My Experience with the Ford Mondeo

I recently hired a 2006 Ford Mondeo, which was picked up at Euston Station. I’ve driven Mondeos before and for the most part they were pretty solid and reliable. The new Mondeo however is a cut above previous incarnations.

Firstly there’s the engines. Previous Mondeos had a bit of power when pushed, but for the most part were just efficient and fulfilled their primary function which was to get you from A to B. The latest models are much better. The car I had was the Mondeo TDCi, which is a turbo diesel and it came with a 2.2 lump under the bonnet.

Diesels are perfect for larger saloon cars like a Mondeo because of the extra torque produced, helping to shift the weight faster than a standard petrol engine (hence why many large vehicles are diesel). They are also more fuel efficient and require less revs to get you where you want to be. The engine in my car was very lively and actually felt extremely rapid, I was very impressed.

The think that most impressed me about the Mondeo though was the interior though. The seats are adorned with a generous offering of leather and the dash with a bit of neon looks like something from an aeroplane cockpit! There was loads of space and it was as comfortable as any Mercedes or BMW I’ve driven in the past.

Hopefully this brief review will help other people when they come to hiring a car, I would highly recommend to them the Ford Mondeo.
