Euston Station is the main London station for serving the west line trains travelling down the west side of the United Kingdom.

Trains can be found travelling to Euston Station from Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow, where the trains only stop in Birmingham to allow for a very fast journey down to London. A typical journey down from Manchester will take you just over 2 hours, and a similar time period will be required to get you down from Liverpool to Euston Station. Glasgow will take you considerably longer, but is still only a 5 hour journey away. First class carriages can be booked on the vast majority of trains to ensure comfort on your journey down.

Euston Station can also be reached by local tube trains through London, from such places as Kings Cross, Tottenham, Paddington, Baker Street and Green Park. These trains are extremely frequent, but if you’re just making a short trip like this you may wish to rent a car as crowding is an issue on the tube.

Finally, the main London airports all connect to Euston Station – Luton, Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick – so that you can hop off a plane and straight onto a train. All you need to do then is to rent a car to take you to your hotel, or perhaps even straight to a restaurant to fill your empty stomach after a long journey – there are plenty to be found near Euston Station. For the ultra-efficient people out there, you can simply walk off your train, grab a sandwich from one of the vendors in the station before getting in your hired car.

Euston Station

When I was little I always thought that Euston station was a fictional place. I used to play monopoly with my family regularly and I always thought that the places on the map were made up. I still have not been to many of the places including Euston road, but of course I now know that they are real. The old set that my father had, had pieces that moved round the board which were all vehicles. My Dad had the car, saying it was a hire car taking him around the sites of London. My sister always liked the ship and I have a feeling that I had a tank. We used to have such good fun.

We were all a very competitive family and so the games would tend to go on for quite a long time. I did not tend to win very often, I think I was too soft and sold people properties at prices that were too low. It was a great laugh though and taught me a lot about managing finances and being competitive. I think that it has contributed to me being able to run a successful business and managing my household finances really well. I am so grateful that I have been influenced in such a positive way as I know that money is a cause of stress for many people. A very important thing to learn, in my opinion and it is definitely a game which I will be playing with my children.

A Great Way to get Around

The epic trains of the Swiss Alps and those that cross the whole of France are greatly publicized in movies and novels that find their way into the hands of Americans hoping to get away for a while. Unfortunately, the train system in the United Kingdom is much less known and therefore, it gets far fewer visitors that want to ride them. However, taking a train is a great way to get from Scotland to England and back again without spending extravagant amounts on plane tickets.

Another great reason to travel by train is that it allows you the chance to gaze at the countryside as it sweeps past you so that you can better understand the country you’re visiting, as well as help you to imagine the lives of people who lived in the middle ages and what they had to endure. Riding in a train can also allow you more time to relax and enjoy your vacation, catch up on some work or reading and could even allow you some quality time with your family.

Another plus is that train stations, while busy, are almost never as busy as airports. This means that it is possible for you to navigate through them without feeling like cattle and it also allows you more opportunities to rent cars at certain stations. Having private transportation can come in handy for sightseeing and for getting places more quickly than on public transit systems, like to catch your train back so that you don’t miss your flight.
