I was pleasantly surprised when I recently parked at Euston station at the prices. I have always imagined that station car parks, especially ones in London would be really dear. I expected it to be a lot more than it actually was. I guess it would seem expensive to some people, but when you are used to paying parking meter prices in central London, I thought that it was quite a bargain.
I was actually feeling a bit strapped for cash. My car had broken down and I was using a hire car and so that was costing me a lot of extra money. I therefore was trying to save money everywhere I could but had to take the train from Euston and therefore park nearby. I was panicking a bit about the cost, to be honest, because I was expecting it to be double what I paid, which would have made me short for groceries for the week, but actually it was fine and I was able to actually relax and enjoy my trip and could even treat myself to a coffee on the train which was nice. Thankfully, I have been paid now and the car has been fixed so money is not such a big issue for me any more. But with a young family to feed on a budget, any extra expenses can really make a significant difference to the household income and I hate being in debt so I do tend to worry about these things.

Euston station car park is an essential facility next to one of the busiest stations in the city. There are many things that make it an excellent car park. The car park is accessible for almost anyone. With a lift linking the three floors, it is much easier for the elderly or disabled to use the station. Also, there are very few stairs in the station allowing people to get from the concourse to the platform without any difficulty. There are a number of disabled spaces close to the station which provides a maximum accessibility for all those who are in need.
The tariffs are very reasonable. For a car to park on a Saturday and Sunday – the two busiest days of the week – parking for up to 20 minutes costs absolutely nothing. At a maximum throughout the week for a full day, it only costs £24. Of course, it would be unfair to expect a motorbike user to spend the same amount when they take up much less space in the car park so shouldn’t pay as much. This is taken into account in the pricing as it only costs a motorbike user £4 to use the car park for up to 24 hours. This is a very fair rate and epitomises the fair prices at the car park. There is also a secured car park at the rear of the concourse which can only be accessed via stairs to the rear of the concourse. However, it must be noted that the car park can only be accessed when the station is open.
